The Right Type of Battery Wire
"Have you used this battery wire before?"
A battery wire is a special type of cord that connects the load (whatever you’re trying to operate) with the power source (in this case, the battery). There are so many different applications for one that it’s difficult sometimes to understand which one you should have. Maybe you’re looking for a how to guide or a diagram of some sort. Either scenarios are understandable, but you should know that it’s not very simple.
Sure, people can look under the hood of a car and point to a few things and declare themselves an automobile expert, but let’s be realistic here. Just because you can do that doesn’t make you an expert by any stretch. And many people get injured by trying to unplug a car battery and put a new one in themselves. Almost as bad is the fact that you might damage your auto and end up having to spend a great deal of money to get it fixed.
The same is true of boats and other vehicles, of course. The reason for this is the fact that most people seem to leave off all the accessories that are involved. Did you know that you’ll need connectors, terminals, spade crimps, and screws? You might even use a butt splice and some plugs as well. This is assuming you’re familiar with the voltage in question and have a backup charger handy. Also, you might want to get an airsoft or brush ready to clean the area. A lot of times, a poor connection is the result of engine gunk or grime.
So you think that you’re ready to be an electrical car expert now? Still not at all hopefully. In order to harness the true power of the copper or aluminum cord, you need to make sure you got the right size and have securely attached them in all the right places. Then, you’ll be able to at least get power. After that, you’re still not an expert, but at least you’re getting there.
